This untypical area with forests and lakes has its very own flair. Twisted branches are hanging like arms over the path, calm waters are nearly soundless. The gaggling geese flying overhead are the only disruption of the silence.

North from here the river Rhine was straightened in 1786. The shift was the cause for the formation of the Bislicher Insel. Many lakes where build in order to mine gravel. Due to human interference a type of meadow landscape was created coincidentally.
